Turn right

As I said earlier, the traditional route from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean is "south 'til the butter melts". Our butter hasn't melted (maybe because it's in the refrigerator) but we decided to make the turn west based on our weather routing software.
We are making haste now; seeing speeds from 6.5 to frequently up to 10 knots. That's really fast for us.
No fish today.
We experimented a bit with trying to determine the most efficient points of sail this afternoon after making the turn westward. We ended up in a broad reach instead of wing on wing as our performance appears to be much better.
We had a nice pasta dinner with a bruschetta appetizer made by me. My first ever. Thin slices of bread that I made two days ago baked until mildly crisp, schmeared (sic) with roasted garlic, with a mild white cheese, tomatoes, red onion and topped with cilantro. The head chef approved of the trainee's efforts :-)

On one of our jibes today (not a crash jibe, an intentional jibe) we lost a pin on a shackle that had worked itself loose over time. Fortunately we had a replacement. We went through an effort to secure all the remaining pins so we wouldn't have a repeat of the problem.
