A new day brings new challenges. Today it's blowing 25+ knots here in Bermuda. As a matter of fact, the America's Cup races for today have been called off because of it. I had scheduled to have a welder come out to weld a fracture in the gooseneck (the fitting that connects the boom to the mast) but it's too windy to weld outside. So I need to take the boom off and take it to them. While starting that process I also discovered a crack in the aft end of the boom about 8 inches long. To remove the boom I need to remove all the reefing lines and outhaul that go through it. So I'm off to find temporary messenger lines so I can pull the reefing lines back through when I need to put it back together.
As the great Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say, if it's not one thing, it's another...
Crikey! Good to find & repair now than in a few hundred miles.
